VoisIT builds on the Ravnur project, which collected Faroese speech recordings from 2019, and on a speech recognition model trained by Carlos Daniel Hernandez Mena and Annika Simonsen at Reykjavík University in 2022. The first VoisIT app was released in the summer of 2023. Since then, iSolveIT has trained its own text-to-speech model (2025) and a new speech recognition model from scratch (2026).
